Cos is a place and a municipality in the south of France with 393 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ariège department in the Occitanie region (before 2016 Midi-Pyrénées ); it belongs to the Arrondissement Foix and the canton Foix (until 2015 Foix-Rural ). The inhabitants are called Cosois .

Cos is about 70 kilometers south of Toulouse . Cos is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Baulou in the north and north-west, Vernajoul in the north and north-east, Foix in the east and south-east, Saint-Pierre-de-Rivière in the south and south-west and Saint-Martin-de-Caralp in the west and north-west.
