Verniolle ( Vernhòla in Occitan ) is a French commune with 2,288 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ariège department in the Occitanie region . Verniolle belongs to the Arrondissement Foix and the canton Val d'Ariège (until 2015: canton Varilhes ). The inhabitants are called Verniollais .

location

Verniolle is located about four kilometers south-southeast of Pamiers on the Crieu River and on the edge of the Pyrenees . Verniolle is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Tour-du-Crieu in the north, Les Pujols in the east, Coussa in the southeast, Varilhes in the south, Saint-Jean-du-Falga in the west and Pamiers in the north-west.

The National Route 20 runs through the municipality .
