Saint-Félix-de-Rieutord ( Occitan : Sent Felitz de Riutòrt ) is a French commune with 460 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ariège department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Foix , the municipality association Pays Foix-Varilhes and the canton Val d'Ariège (until 2015: canton Varilhes ). The inhabitants are called Saint-Félixéens / Saint-Félixéennes .
geography
Saint-Félix-de-Rieutord is located around 65 kilometers south-southeast of the city of Toulouse in the center of the Ariège department near the small town of Pamiers . The community consists of the village of Saint-Félix-de-Rieutord and a few individual farms. Large parts of the community are forested. The highest point in the municipality is the Cap de la Baillière in the south of the municipality. The village of Saint-Félix-de-Rieutord is west of the Crieu River and is on the D10 and D410 in terms of traffic. The N20 from Paris to Spain runs west of the municipality.
Saint-Félix-de-Rieutord is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Coussa in the north and north-east, Ségura in the east and south-east, Gudas in the south, Dalou in the south-west and west and Varilhes in the west and north-west.
history
The castle and village already existed in the 12th century. The settlement and its castle are taken by the Huguenots in 1621. In the Middle Ages, the place was within the county of Foix , which was a crown domain of the King of France from 1607 until the French Revolution . The community belonged to the Mirepoix-Pamiers district from 1793 to 1801. In addition, Saint-Félix-de-Rieutord was within the canton of Varilhes from 1793 to 2015 . The parish was from 1801 to 1926 and has been reassigned to the Arrondissement of Pamiers since 1942. Between 1926 and 1942 it was part of the Foix arrondissement.
