The canton of Saint-Max is a French constituency in the Arrondissement of Nancy , in the Département Meurthe-et-Moselle and in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ); its main town is Saint-Max .

The canton is located in the southern half of the Meurthe-et-Moselle department, east of Nancy .
history
The canton was created in 1973 by splitting off from the canton of Nancy-Sud . Since a sub-area was split off as the canton of Seichamps on February 21, 1997, there were only three municipalities until 2015. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes rose to five in 2015. In 2015, the two previous canton capital Malzéville ( canton Malzéville ) and Tomblaine ( canton Tomblaine ) were added to the previous municipalities .

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Saint-Max included the three municipalities of Dommartemont , Essey-lès-Nancy and Saint-Max . Its layout corresponded to an area of 8.92 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 5435.

In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the three voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, the team Corinne Marchal-Tarnus / Eric Pensalfini (both UD) won against Stéphanie Gruet / Grégoire Ruhland (both PS) with a share of the vote of 55.84% (turnout: 46.54%).
