The French canton of Pont-à-Mousson is a constituency in the arrondissements of Briey , Nancy and Toul in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ).

history

The canton was established in 1790. By 2015, 17 municipalities belonged to the canton of Pont-à-Mousson. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes rose to 24. Of the previous 17 communes, 9 moved to the canton Entre Seille et Meurthe . In addition to the remaining 8 communes, the communes of the previous cantons Dieulouard (10 communes), Chambley-Bussières (3 communes) and Thiaucourt-Regniéville (3 communes) were added.

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Pont-à-Mousson included the 17 municipalities of Atton , Autreville-sur-Moselle , Belleville , Bezaumont , Bouxières-sous-Froidmont , Champey-sur-Moselle , Landremont , Lesménils and Loisy , Millery , Morville-sur-Seille , Mousson , Pont-à-Mousson (main town), Port-sur-Seille , Sainte-Geneviève , Ville-au-Val and Vittonville . Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​129.90 km ² . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 5424.

politics

In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the six voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, Maryse Altermatt / Stéphane Pizelle (both UD) won against Barbara Hoffmann / Dominique Sauget (both FN ) with 59.04% of the vote (turnout: 44.09%).
