The canton of Jarville-la-Malgrange is a French constituency in the Arrondissement of Nancy , in the Département Meurthe-et-Moselle and in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ); its capital is Jarville-la-Malgrange .

The canton is located in the middle of the Meurthe-et-Moselle department south of Nancy .
history
The canton was created on January 26, 1982 by splitting off from the canton of Neuves-Maisons . Until 2015, four municipalities belonged to the Jarville-la-Malgrange canton. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes rose to 12. In addition to the previous communes, there were 7 of the 14 communes of the previous canton of Saint-Nicolas-de-Port and the commune of Fléville-devant-Nancy from the canton of Tomblaine .

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Jarville-la-Malgrange included the four municipalities Heillecourt , Houdemont , Jarville-la-Malgrange (main town) and Ludres . Its layout corresponded to an area of 17.88 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 5438.

politics
In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the three voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, Luc Binsinger / Sabine Lemaire-Assfeld (UD) won against Jean-Claude Pissenem / Jocelyne Resclause (both PS) and Julien Delbarre / Huguette Vançon (both FN ) with 40.82 votes % (Voter turnout: 50.58%).
