history

The place was first mentioned in 1379 as "Grewt", when the Nuremberg burgrave Friedrich V sold the office of Roßtal, which also included this place, to Ulrich Haller. Around 1430 the place was called "Grosrewtt", from 1532 "Castnersreuth". The basic word -reuth indicates that the place was a clearing settlement. The final word large served to differentiate it from the younger and probably also the smaller Oedenreuth . The new identifier Castner- is derived from the grain box that must have existed in the village.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were six properties in Kastenreuth. The high court and the village and community rulership exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach judge office Roßtal . The landlords were the Cadolzburg caste office (two estates, shepherd's house) and Nuremberg owners: von Ebner (one half yard), von Peller (one half yard, one little estate). In 1799 there were still six properties in the village with the same manorial conditions.

In the context of the municipal edict, Kastenreuth was assigned to the Buchschwabach tax district formed in 1808 . It belonged to the rural community of Weitersdorf , which was founded in the same year . One property was subject to voluntary jurisdiction until 1812 and from 1821 to 1836 to the Weikershof Patrimonial Court , two properties were subject to the Schoppershof Patrimonial Court from 1821 to 1835 .

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , Kastenreuth was incorporated into Roßtal on May 1, 1978.
