history

The place was first mentioned in 1413 as "Klein Rewt". It was not until 1741 that the place was called "Oedenreuth". The basic word -reuth indicates that the place was a clearing settlement. The qualifier Klein- was used to distinguish it from the older and probably also larger Kastenreuth , which at that time was simply called "Rewt". The new determinant Öden- is derived from the adjective barren.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were six properties in Oedenreuth (three estates, one estate, and a forge). The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach judge's office in Roßtal . The Nuremberg owner von Kreß was the sole landlord . In 1802 there were five properties in the village.

As part of the community edict, Oedenreuth was assigned to the Buchschwabach tax district formed in 1808 . It belonged to the rural community of Weitersdorf , which was founded in the same year . Two properties were under voluntary jurisdiction from 1818 to 1830 by the Patrimonial Court of Power .

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , Oedenreuth was incorporated into Roßtal on May 1, 1978.
