The Ninja 250 R is a sports motorcycle from the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki , which has been built with an injection engine since 2007.

history

In the USA, the carburetor version of the 250 R has been one of the best-selling motorcycles for more than 20 years. The model was presented in 2007 and is available with fuel injection and was offered worldwide.

The 250 R achieved sales figures on the German market that were roughly on par with the larger ZX-6 Rs for 2009.

concept

According to Kawasaki, the 250 R should be the entry-level machine in the supersports segment , which is why the fully faired 250 R replaces the larger "Kawasaki Ninja" such. B. the Kawasaki ZX-6R is optically borrowed and its top model is the Ninja ZX-10R . In contrast to the larger ninjas, however, the Ninja 250 R has relatively high handlebar stubs, which ensure a relatively upright posture for an athlete. Due to the combination of a seat height of 77 to 79 cm and a very narrow bench, the 250 R is suitable for drivers from 1.60 m height. For smaller drivers, it can be lowered by approx. 3 cm. The size limit for drivers is around 1.90 m tall, depending on the comfort requirements they place on their machine. However, raising the rear is generally possible.

The 250 R is characterized by its easy handling. Despite an engine output that is lower than the majority of registered motorcycles, the 250 R is relatively lively. One of the reasons for this is the power-to-weight ratio of 0.14 kW / kg (5.12 kg / PS). The Ninja 250 R requires an active driver, as acceleration is mainly achieved via the engine speed. For driving, this means that, in contrast to larger machines, you have to switch a lot and carefully in order to maintain an optimal speed.

The 250 R was and is available in the following colors

  • Pearl White 2011
  • Lime Green 2008–2010, Lime Green (also Special Edition) 2011
  • Ebony Black 2008, 2010, 2011
  • Diablo Black 2009 (metallic version)
  • Special Edition 2009 (Lime Green / Diablo Black / white stickers with pearl effect by 3M)

In 2011, production was stopped and a model that had been heavily revised by Kawasaki was presented. The 250 R was then replaced by the more powerful Kawasaki Ninja 300 in 2013 .
