The Kia Geuraento was a medium-duty truck that Kia Motors produced between 1995 and 2000 as the successor to the Asia AM . The Geuraento was developed in technical cooperation with Hino Motors and was essentially a mix of components from the Hino Ranger III + IV. The chassis and the driver's cab were from the Ranger III, the front and the dashboard were again from the Ranger IV. As was the 7.4-liter diesel engine with 370 hp. In addition to the 6x4 drive formula, it was also available as an 8x8. The payload was initially 11.5 tons. From 1996 there was a tipper truck , tractor unit and concrete mixer with a payload of 15 tons each. In 1997, a specially developed 430 PS variant of the Hino engine, built under license, was added to the range, which enabled Kia to offer versions with a payload of up to 23 tons. This made Kia the market leader in the South Korean market segment for construction vehicles. Due to the merger with the Hyundai Motor Company , it was decided in 2000 to discontinue all commercial vehicles from Kia and Asia Motors above the Kia Bongo or to market them as Hyundai. Since the original Hino engine could not meet the emissions regulations for 2001, production was discontinued at the end of 2000 in favor of the Hyundai Super Truck , which had been a competing model until then.
