The Kia Stonic is a crossover SUV from the South Korean car manufacturer Kia Motors and at the same time the smallest SUV in the product range.
history
The vehicle was presented on June 20, 2017, and had its public premiere at the International Motor Show in September 2017 in Frankfurt am Main . The Stonic has been on sale since September 30, 2017 at prices starting at 15,790 euros. The Kia Provo concept vehicle presented at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show gave a first look at the SUV . On August 5, 2020, the manufacturer presented a revised version of the Stonic.
In China , the vehicle was presented at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2018. The SUV has been sold there as the Kia KX1 since the end of 2018 .

safety
At the end of 2017, the Stonic was tested for vehicle safety by Euro NCAP . In the basic version, the car received three out of five possible stars. Since a safety package is optionally available for the model, the Stonic was also tested with the safety package. In this test, it received five stars out of five.
background
The name of the five-seater is an artificial word and is made up of the terms "Speedy" and "Tonic".
Also in June 2017, sister company Hyundai presented the Kona, a compact SUV. However, this is based on its own platform and is also available with more powerful engines and all-wheel drive .

Registration numbers
In the first year of sales 2017, 1,867 Stonic - 124 of them with diesel engines - were newly registered in Germany. In 2018, 226 of the total of 7,683 vehicles had a diesel engine. In 2019, of a total of 6,906 Stonic 142, variants with a diesel engine were used.
