The airport Marina di Campo ( it .: Aeroporto di Marina di Campo “Teseo Tesei” , en .: Elba Airport ) is located on the Italian Mediterranean island of Elba ( Tuscany ), about one kilometer north-northeast of Marina di Campo near the town of La Pila. The airfield is used by the general aviation and regional airlines used.
Infrastructure
The narrow airport area is not far from the bay of Campo nell'Elba . The airfield has an asphalt runway that is around one kilometer long and runs roughly in a north-south direction (16/34). The small reception building is in the northwest. Aircraft up to the size of a De Havilland DHC-8-300 can be handled here.
Car rental companies are represented at the airport . There is a taxi rank and a small parking lot. There is a bus stop on the road to Portoferraio (SP25), which runs around 200 meters northwest of the terminal building .
history
The airfield was established in 1963 thanks to an initiative by a German entrepreneur. The originally 750 meter long grass runway was paved in 1991.
In the years 1980–1987, the airfield was regularly served by COMAIR from May to October on weekends from Vilshofen airfield . There was space for nine passengers on each board. These flights were offered as package tours. Until their bankruptcy , InterSky (until 2015) and SkyWork Airlines (until 2018) were particularly represented. From the German-speaking area, Marina di Campo was also seasonally served from Altenrhein , Berlin , Bern , Düsseldorf , Friedrichshafen , Hamburg , Munich , Vienna and Zurich .
