Lattice Semiconductor is a manufacturer of electronic semiconductor components based in the US state of Oregon , in a region with many high-tech companies, which is also known as Silicon Forest . As of mid-2006, Lattice is the world's second largest manufacturer of digital, freely programmable logic components, the so-called Complex Programmable Logic Devices (CPLDs), and the fourth largest manufacturer of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs).

history

The company was founded in 1983 in Hillsboro , Oregon . In 2014, the company's headquarters were relocated to Portland. There is the seat in the US Bancorp Tower . In November 2016, the company announced the proposed acquisition by Canyon Bridge Capital Partners for approximately $ 1.3 billion. Its sole investor is a subsidiary of China Reform Holdings, which is owned by the Chinese State Council . Subject to regulatory approval, the acquisition should be completed in early 2017. However, following a recommendation by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States , US President Donald Trump prohibited the sale in September 2017 because of threats to national security.

In addition to the aforementioned CPLDs and FPGAs, Lattice also manufactures mixed-signal ASICs , a combination of customer-specific analog and digital integrated circuits . In addition, the company develops and markets the necessary development software and IP cores . As a special feature, “Soft-IP Cores” for an 8-bit and a 32-bit processor for the implementation of SoCs in FPGAs are made available to the general public free of charge and open source under the “Lattice open IP core license”. The development system required for this is based on the GNU Compiler Collection and is distributed by Lattice under the GNU General Public License .
