Lidköping is a municipality ( Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Västra Götalands län and the historic province of Västergötland on Lake Vänern .
The capital is the city of Lidköping . Other localities are Filsbäck , Järpås , Resville , Saleby , Spiken , Tun , Vinninga , Örslösa and other smaller villages.
geography
The city of Lidköping is located at the mouth of the Lidan in the Vänern. To the west of the city, the Kålland peninsula with the island of Kållandsö and the offshore archipelago extends about 25 kilometers in the Vänern. The baroque castle Läckö , once the seat of the Counts De la Gardie, is located on Kållandsö .
On the western border of the municipality, 20 km from Lidköping, is the town of Såtenäs , where the Skaraborgs Aviation Division is stationed.
The municipality extends from Lidköping about 20 kilometers inland along the Lidan River.
economy
The capital Lidköping is an important port and industrial city as well as an administrative center. Tourism is important on Kålland and Kållandsö.
