Lisandro Martínez (born January 18, 1998 in Gualeguay , Entre Ríos province ) is an Argentine football player who plays as a defender for Ajax Amsterdam and the Argentine national team.

Career

Martínez played in his youth for Club Urquiza (from Gualeguay), Club Libertad (from Gualeguay) and the Newell's Old Boys (from Rosario ). He made his professional debut for Newell's in the club's last encounter of the 2016/17 season and played the entire season in a loss to CD Godoy Cruz . In August 2017, Martínez moved on loan to CSD Defensa y Justicia , a team from the Argentine Primera División . He made his first appearance for Defensa on October 13, when he lost to San Lorenzo . Two game days later he scored his first senior goal in an away win against CA Temperley . Defensa y Justicia signed Martínez permanently in June 2018.

In 2019 Martínez moved to Ajax Amsterdam, where he signed a four-year contract with an option for a fifth. He made his Eredivisie debut on August 3, 2019 against Vitesse Arnhem .

National team

He represented Argentina at the 2017 U-20 South American Championship . On March 22, 2019, he made his debut for the senior team in a 3-1 loss to Venezuela in Madrid .
