List of mayors of Munich

The Bavarian capital of Munich has had 39 mayors since 1818 . Of these, fifteen Mayor or Mayor , 24 deputy mayor and eight third mayor .

Until 1818 the city of Munich had up to 16 mayors at the same time, two of whom held office alternately on a monthly basis. With the ordinance on the constitution and administration of the municipalities in the Kingdom of Baiern of 1818 , two mayors, at least one of whom should be a legally qualified mayor, were placed at the head of the Munich magistrate , with the first mayor acting as head of the city. The mayor of Munich is in personal union and the head of agency of the city government .

As in the 1940s, Munich has had a third mayor since 1960 .
