This ended the civil billeting of soldiers with residents in the city, which had existed since 1721 with the stationing of the first Dragoons regiment in Pasewalk. The three-story residential barracks are 229.50 meters long. The entire barracks complex originally enclosed an inner courtyard with riding lanes, foot exercise and riding arenas measuring 218 × 105 meters. In 1901 an additional sick and quarantine stable for horses opposite the barracks. After the dissolution of the Cuirassier Regiment in 1919, briefly formation of the Reichswehr Cavalry Regiment No. 2 and from 1920 the 6th (Prussian) Cavalry Regiment of the Reichswehr a . a. from Dragoon Regiment "von Arnim" (2nd Brandenburg) No. 12 and stationing two squadrons of the new cavalry regiment in barracks. 1924 Installation of a memorial stone for those killed in the Dragoon Regiment “von Arnim” (memorial removed after 1945?) Between 1956 and 1990 various NVA units were housed in barracks, including Pioneer Battalion No. 5 “Horst Viedt” and Battalion Chemical Defense No. 5 stationed in Pasewalk for a long time. During the GDR era, the barracks were named after a former member of the National Committee Free Germany (NKFD), "Horst Viedt" (* 1921 † 1945) and a memorial was set up for him. Monument removed after 1990. 1990 Short-term takeover of the barracks complex by the Bundeswehr and use as a depot before it was finally closed in 1991. After 270 years, Pasewalk's history as a garrison town ended. After the renovation began in 1997, the main barracks building was used from 1998 to 2011 as the seat of the district office of the Uecker-Randow district and since 2011 as a branch of the district office of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district . After the demolition of the entire northern part of the stables, the remaining southern, U-shaped part of the system has been used since 2001 as a “Historic U” cultural forum for events, exhibitions, conferences and trade fairs.
