The List of Buildings on the Temple Mount lists all buildings on the Temple Mount . The historical changes in the use of the buildings, e.g. B. mentioned during the crusader period . This list also includes former buildings that no longer exist as such, ruins and archaeological sites. The Temple Mount ( Heb. הר הבית Har haBait , Arabic الحرم الشريف al-haram asch-sharif , DMG al-ḥaram aš-šarīf 'the noble sanctuary') belongs together with the entire old city of Jerusalem to the UNESCO world heritage and is on the red list of endangered world heritage .
Structure and abbreviations of the list
The names of the buildings are listed in German, Arabic and Hebrew. Coordinates, pictures, data on foundation or reconstruction, destruction or re-destruction, architectural styles, comments and the type of building (well, dome, platform, etc.) are attached. Some buildings have several different names. The designation chosen by Max Küchler was given as the German name. All others were noted in the "Alternative Names" column. This list combines various buildings that are already present in other lists under the aspect of the Temple Mount and adds further buildings of the Temple Mount that have not yet been included in any list, e.g. B. fountains, colonnades, etc. In addition, the buildings are not so much viewed from the perspective of a particular religion, but more from the perspective of the various religious influences and their architectural, cultural and historical development. Years that refer to the time before the birth of Christ are marked with a small a after the birth of Christ, based on Küchler.
