List of flags in the Märkisches Kreis

This list of flags in the Märkisches Kreis contains the hoisting and banner flags of the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia and the cities and municipalities belonging to the district, as described in the respective statutes.

City of Altena			The city bears the traditional Altena city arms. In a golden field, it shows the Brandenburg crossbeam, set in three rows of red and silver, with Saint Catherine of Alexandria watching over the crossbeam in a red dress and blue cloak, on her head the count's crown, in her right hand a silver sword and in her left hand holding the wooden straightening wheel with silver, sickle-shaped curved tips. The city flag (banner) has white and red stripes of equal width, in the middle, shifted slightly towards the pole side, there is a white field with the city coat of arms , underneath it is written in black 'Stadt Altena (Westf.)'. The height of the flag cloth is related to its length as 2: 5.
City of Balve			The city was granted the right to use a coat of arms with a certificate from the District President in Arnsberg dated February 6, 1976. Description of the coat of arms: Split of silver (white) and blue, in front a half black continuous cross, behind a half silver, golden (yellow) armed eagle. The city has also been granted the right to fly a flag with a certificate from the District President Arnsberg. Description of the flag: The flag is striped lengthways in three strips in a ratio of 1: 3: 1 from white to blue to white and shows the city's coat of arms in the middle of the blue strip .
City of Halver			The city bears the coat of arms of the municipality of Halver, which was awarded to it by decree of the Reich and Prussian Minister of the Interior on March 29, 1935. The coat of arms shows a table and a femlinde on a beam in three lines on a silver and red shaft, reminiscent of the free chair that existed in the 13th century. [...] The city carries a flag with the colors red and white and the city arms.
City of Hemer	according to the main statute no hoisting flag		With the approval of the District President in Arnsberg from March 16, 1976, the city of Hemer carries a coat of arms, a banner and a seal. The coat of arms is described as follows: 'Split, in the front in yellow (gold) a three-row red and white (silver) cut bar, in the back in black three (2: 1) yellow (gold) wolf rods.' The banner is striped in black and yellow in a ratio of 1: 1 and shows the city's coat of arms in the middle of the upper half .
community Herscheid	according to the main statute no hoisting flag		The municipality was granted the right to use a coat of arms in a certificate from the head president dated October 17, 1935. The coat of arms shows in gold the bar of the Count von der Mark, carved in red and silver in three lines, from which a growing red stag rises. The municipality flag is striped white and red and bears the coat of arms in these colors.
City of Iserlohn			The city of Iserlohn has a coat of arms that depicts a wall with two red, blue-roofed towers in the yellow field and covered with three red-silver crossbeams, from which St. Pancras in the red cloak, holding a sword in his right hand, grows up between the towers. The city flag contains the city colors white-red-yellow and is striped lengthways.
City of Kierspe	according to the main statute no hoisting flag		The city of Kierspe was granted the right to use a coat of arms with a certificate from Interior Minister NW of July 29, 1969. The coat of arms shows a shield of gold and silver divided by a red and silver chess bar of the Count von der Mark, above a black raven (Rauk) walking to the right, below the blue armored red lion of the Dukes of Berg. The main statute gives no information about a flag. However, a banner is carried as follows: 'White and red striped lengthways with the coat of arms in the upper half.'
District town Lüdenscheid		according to the main statute no banner	The city of Lüdenscheid has its traditional coat of arms: in gold (yellow) above a red battlement wall with an open gate, a double row of seventeen rows of silver (white) and red, with Bishop Medardus growing above it in red robes with a red miter and a silver bishop's staff left hand holding a closed red book with a gold cross and gilt edging. The city flag has white and red stripes of equal width. In the middle is the coat of arms .
City of Meinerzhagen	according to the main statute no hoisting flag		coat of arms The city carries the coat of arms decided on by the council of the city of Meinerzhagen in its meeting on April 18, 1975 and approved by a certificate of the district president in Arnsberg from July 14, 1975 - January 31, 21-03. Description of the coat of arms: Divided, in the larger upper field in yellow (gold) growing red, white armored lion above a blue St. Andrew's cross, below red and white (silver) chess bar, covered with a yellow (gold) hunting horn. The colors of the city flag are 'blue-gold'. However, a banner is carried as follows: blue-yellow in a ratio of 1: 1, striped lengthways with the city arms in the upper third.
City of Menden			The city's coat of arms shows a white (silver) tinned gate tower in black with bay windows attached to both sides, a yellow (golden) portcullis in the archway, in front of which a white (silver) drawbridge. The city's flag shows the city's coat of arms in the middle, from red to yellow, in a ratio of 1: 1 . The banner shows the coat of arms of the city in the middle of the upper third from red to yellow, in a ratio of 1: 1.
Community Iserlohn			The municipality bears its traditional coat of arms, approved on October 17, 1935 by the President of the Province of Westphalia. The coat of arms shows the Brandenburg cube bar in gold and red, the rose of the parish Wiblingwerde and a blue wavy ribbon (representing the Lenne). (3) The municipality flag is white - red and bears the coat of arms in the colors mentioned under Paragraph 2.
City of Neuenrade			The city of Neuenrade was granted the right to use a coat of arms in a certificate issued by the District President Arnsberg on March 23, 1979. Description of the coat of arms: Divided by yellow and white by a three-rowed red and white bar; above the growing, red-clad, yellow-crowned Mother of God with a tepid cloak, on the right arm the baby Jesus, both with white nimbles; at the bottom a continuous black cross. The city of Neuenrade was granted the right to carry a flag and a banner with a certificate from the District President Arnsberg dated March 23, 1979. Description of the flag: Red and white striped lengthways in a ratio of 1: 1, the city's coat of arms in the middle of both strips . Description of the banner: Red and white in a ratio of 1: 1 longitudinally striped, in the middle of both lanes, slightly shifted towards the pole, the city's coat of arms .
City of Plettenberg		according to the main statute no banner	The city's coat of arms shows: In a red shield between golden towers with blue pointed roofs connected by a wall, a golden shield covered by a crown with a three-rowed red-silver bar. [...] The city flag contains the city colors blue-yellow in two elongated rectangular fields of equal size with the city coat of arms in the middle.
Schalksmühle municipality			The municipality was granted the right to use a coat of arms by a certificate from the District President in Arnsberg dated July 21, 1970. The coat of arms shows a three-rowed bar in nine fields, each from red to silver, on a golden background, with a half black paddle wheel growing above it, including three green holly leaves (ilex) arranged in a bouquet. [...] The municipality was granted the right to carry a flag and a banner by a certificate from the District President in Arnsberg dated March 30, 1972. The flag (hoist flag) is striped lengthways from green to red in two equal widths, in the middle slightly shifted to the pole, the coat of arms of the municipality. The banner is striped lengthways from green to red in two equally wide strips, in the middle of the upper half of the municipality's coat of arms.
City of Werdohl			On January 16, 1935, the city was granted the right to use the following coat of arms: In the white and black split shield a curved golden tip rising to the edge of the shield, on the top right a red rose with green leaves, on the left a vertical silver chain with 3 round rings, with the upper and lower ring open; the top is crossed by the bar of the Counts of the Mark, set in three rows of silver and red.
