The farm museum or museum village is the name given to museums that specialize in the exhibition of rural architecture . They are therefore a special form of local history and folklore museums with a focus on the architecture exhibition and thus differ from the agricultural museum . A single historical homestead as a local museum and architectural documentation is called a museum courtyard.

Farm museums are open-air museums that have a number of reconstructed farms and estates .
