List of buildings made of porta sandstone

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Porta sandstone occurs between Lübbecke , Minden and Lemgo in North Rhine-Westphalia . At the Porta Westfalica breakthrough in the Weser in the area of the city of Porta Westfalica , the sandstone bank is up to 20 meters thick. Accordingly, the main area of mining was here. After the Second World War, this stone was no longer mined.

Since the 11th century, the Porta sandstone has been used as a work stone along the Weser . It was also used nationwide in churches and bridges.

The list of structures made of porta sandstone includes structures made entirely or partially of porta sandstone. Buildings that no longer exist today are also included in the list.

At the moment, this list is far from complete.
