A center of rhododendron breeding in Germany is the Ammerland in north-western Lower Saxony. In the district town of Westerstede , the rhododendron festival takes place every four years ("Rhodo"), which is the largest rhododendron exhibition in Europe. There are several rhodendron parks in the district, which can be experienced by bike via the rhododendron routes .
