Loge (also Saturn XLVI ) is one of the smaller outer moons of the planet Saturn .

discovery

The discovery of Loge by Scott S. Sheppard , David C. Jewitt , Jan Kleyna, and Brian G. Marsden on recordings from January 5 to April 30, 2006 was announced on June 26, 2006. Loge was initially given the provisional designation S / 2006 S 5. In April 2007 the moon was named after the fire giant Logi (also Loge), a son of the frost giant Fornjótr (also Fornjot) and brother of Aegir (also Ægir or Hlér) and Kari , named from Norse mythology .

Orbit data

Loge orbits Saturn on an eccentric retrograde orbit in around 1,312 days. The orbital eccentricity is 0.187, the orbit is inclined at 167.9 ° against the ecliptic , which represents the Laplace plane at this distance from Saturn .

Structure and physical data

Lodge has a diameter of about 6 km.
