production
Fincher realized his "dream project" here. His aim was to draw creatively from the world of science fiction and to make a contribution that is aimed at all adults, no longer just " geeks and nerds ". As a result, he saw the Netflix portal as the most suitable modern platform for his goals. Each of the episodes realized by different studios such as Sony Pictures Imageworks , Blur Studio (both USA), Platige Image (Poland) or Digic Pictures (Hungary) differs from the others in terms of both animation style and tenor.
reception
On Rotten Tomatoes , the format received an average rating of 72% in the first week, while in the IMDB it received 9/10 points with over 22,000 ratings. Magazines such as Digital Spy , Wired or IndieWire criticized the “retrograde” portrayal of women as “sex objects” and “victims”, the “excessive display of stoic supermen and women who were inferior to them” or the high degree of “ hyper masculinism ” and those that go with it connected one-dimensionality. In addition, the level of sexuality and nudity, which sometimes appears forced, is often criticized as "strange". Ben Travers from the website The Daily Beast , on the other hand, praised the series for its “multifaceted handling of violence, humor” and the use of “a well-dosed pinch of heart”.
