The Neuhausen ob Eck special airfield is located west of Neuhausen ob Eck , around 6.5 kilometers east of Tuttlingen in the Baden-Württemberg district of Tuttlingen in Germany .

It was commissioned as a military airfield in 1936 and was used as a military and airfield area by army aviators until 1994 . Today the "take-off trade park" is located on part of the site , and the former airfield is also the venue for the annual Southside Festival .

location

The airfield is located at an altitude of around 807  m above sea level. NHN , between the Upper Danube Valley and Lake Constance . The fenced area is in the extension of Tuttlinger Straße, the Neuhausener Ortsdurchfahrt, directly on the district road 5945 (until 2011 federal road 311 ) from Ulm to Geisingen .

Most of the airfield site is located in the Neuhauser district, with the northwestern part of 26 hectares on the district of Nendingen in Tuttlingen .

history

Military use

Until 1994, the Army Aviation Regiment 20 and the Army Aviation Staffel 10 belonging to the 10th Panzer Division with helicopters of the type Bell UH-1 D and BO105 as well as the Feldjäger training company 750 were stationed in the Ludwig-Erhard-Kaserne .

Civil use

After the site was closed in 1997, the special purpose association Gewerbepark Neuhausen ob Eck / Tuttlingen, founded in the same year, acquired the 143 hectare site. The intermunicipal project of the city of Tuttlingen and the community of Neuhausen ob Eck was named "take-off industrial park" in 2000. Innovative medical technology companies form a special target group in the business park's range of services. 65 companies with around 700 employees have already settled in the take-off commercial park (as of September 2011).

Airfield facilities

Neuhausen ob Eck is approved for aircraft up to 20,000 kg. Since the end of 2001, the special landing area has had a hangar (storage hall) with a total of 15 boxes for category A aircraft. There are other storage options on the apron of the tower . There is no possibility of refueling at the Neuhausen ob Eck special airfield.
