Mali Lošinj [ ˈmaːli ˈlɔʃiɲ ] ( Eng . Klein-Lötzing , it . : Lussinpiccolo ) is a city, port and tourist center on the island of Lošinj in Croatia .
location
Mali Lošinj is located on the eponymous part of the island Mali Lošinj (Little Lošinj) in the southeast of a wide and well-protected bay. The climate is mild and the winters warm; the average air temperature is 7.3 ° C in January and 24.7 ° C in July. The average annual temperature is 15 ° C.
The favorable climatic conditions, the construction of hotels and holiday complexes, a large campsite with approx. 1300 parking spaces, the forest cover and the establishment of the beaches have resulted in an intensive development of tourism. The place is in the protected part of the bay with a large part on the eastern side. From the southeast of the bay there is a road to Veli Lošinj .
Mali Lošinj is particularly popular with sailors , as the city harbor and the marina a little north of it offer good protection against the Bora and Jugo winds . The two ports can be reached from the east through a narrow passage (Privlaka Canal). The bridge overhead is opened twice a day for a quarter of an hour (9 a.m. and 6 p.m.). Otherwise you would have to sail around the entire island in the south to reach Mali Lošinj .
Mali Lošinj is the main town on the island of Lošinj and has 6091 inhabitants, the municipality 8116 (2011 census). Although mali means small in German , Mali Lošinj is the largest town on the island.
