List of German names of Croatian places

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In this list of German names of Croatian places , Croatian geographical names (of cities , rivers , islands, etc.) are contrasted with the (former) German names that, from a German-speaking point of view , they still have today or that were used when the areas under the Austro-Hungarian Empire belonged. This also includes some Italian names from the time of Austria-Hungary, when Italian was one of the official languages in Istria and Dalmatia alongside German and Croatian .

Historical names that are no longer common in general use (but in historical use) are shown in italics .
