Tú alfagra land mítt ( Faroese , Oh you my beautiful country ) is the title of the national anthem of the Faroe Islands , which was introduced in the 1930s .

Tú alfagra land mítt was composed on February 1, 1906 by Símun av Skarði. The poem is entitled Mítt alfagra land . Petur Alberg wrote the melody for it in 1907. On January 8, 1908 , the song was first published in the newspaper Tingakrossur .

Tú alfagra land mítt Tú alfagra land mítt, mín dýrasta ogn! á vetri so randhvítt, á sumri við logn, tú tekur meg at tær so tætt í tín favn. Tit oyggjar so mætar, Gud signi tað navn, sum menn tykkum góvu, tá teir tykkum sóu. Yes, Gud signi Føroyar, with land! Hin roðin, sum skínur á sumri í líð, hin ódnin, sum týnir mangt lív vetrartíð, og myrkrið, sum fjalir mær bjartasta mál, og ljósið, sum spælir mær sigur í sál: old streingir, ið tóna, sum vága og vóna, at eg verji Føroyar, in the middle of the country. Eg nígi tí niður í bøn til tín, Gud: Hin Heilagi friður mær falli í lut! Lat sál mína tváa sær í tíni dýrd! So torir hon vága - av Gudi væl skírd - at bera tað merkið, sum eyðkennir verkið, ið varðveitir Føroyar, mítt land!

Oh you my beautiful country You dear country my, my most dearest good! In the winter of snow fine, so good in summer; you pull me so dearly and close to the chest. You islands, so minnig, God bless you with pleasure the holy name, given by ancestors. Yes, God bless the Faroe Islands, my country! The red that dawns in summer on the slope, the winter storm is hammering, and robs some man the darkness covers me the brightest speech the light, oh it plays to me victory in the soul, all the strings they sound of risk and longing, that I am protecting the Faroe Islands, my country. I kneel down and pray to you, Lord: Holy peace, be over me! Let my soul see the glory choose the risk now, - full of trust in God - I carry the mark of the work without equal, the guard for the Faroe Islands, my country!
