The Mars superliga 1996/97 was the fourth season of the top Slovak division in men's football. Champion of 1. FC Košice . The team secured the title on the last match day with a 2-1 away win at local rivals Lokomotíva Košice and at the same time benefited from the 1: 2 defeat of FC Spartak Trnava against newly promoted Rimavská Sobota .
