Mikušovce (Hungarian Mikosfalva - until 1907 Mikusóc ) is a municipality in the northwest of Slovakia with a population of 1,009 (December 31, 2019), which in Okres Ilava of, part kraj Trenčiansky lies.
geography
The village is located at the foot of the northern White Carpathians in the valley of the Tovarský brook , on both sides of the brook. The valley is bordered by wooded hills, particularly west of the creek. The highest point of the municipality is the mountain Chotuč with 795 m nm. The town center is at an altitude of 320 m nm and is 10 kilometers from Ilava and 19 kilometers from Púchov .
Neighboring municipalities are Červený Kameň in the north, Kvašov in the east, Tuchyňa in the south and Vršatské Podhradie in the west.
history
In the municipality of Mikušovce there was a castle site of the Lusatian and Puchau cultures and three burial sites of the Lusatian culture. A large bronze find comes from the Young Bronze Age.
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1259 as Mykus and was part of the dominion of Vršatec (German Lion's Arch ) and partly owned by the Bart family . In 1598 there were 44 houses in the village. In 1784 the village had 133 houses, 156 families and 756 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 91 houses and 353 inhabitants who were employed as distillers and farmers.
The place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or Slovakia. In the first Czechoslovak Republic spinning and weaving were common, and there was a distillery, mill and saw in each of Mikušovce.
population
According to the 2011 census, Mikušovce had 1,010 inhabitants, including 950 Slovaks , 13 Czechs and three Moravians . One resident indicated a different ethnic group and 43 residents gave no information about the ethnic group .
916 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, five residents to the Apostolic Church and one resident each to the Brother Church, the Jewish community and the Pentecostal movement. 15 residents were without a denomination and the denomination of 71 residents was not determined.
