Moussa Dembélé (born July 12, 1996 in Pontoise ) is a French football player of Malian descent. The striker has been under contract with Olympique Lyon since summer 2018 .

Career

Dembélé began his career in 2002 with Cergy Clos US youth, before joining Paris Saint-Germain youth in 2004 . He played there until 2012 and then moved to England in the youth department of Fulham FC .

In July 2013 Dembélé signed his first professional contract until June 30, 2015. On November 23, 2013, he sat in the 2-1 defeat by Swansea City for the first time with the first team on the bench, but was not substituted on. Dembélé made his Premier League debut a game day later when he was substituted on for Kieran Richardson on November 30, 2013 in the 3-0 defeat by West Ham United in the 83rd minute . On March 30, 2014, he was in the starting line-up for the first time in the 3-1 defeat by Everton .

In June 2016 Dembélé moved to Scotland to Celtic Glasgow and signed a four-year contract. Dembélé made his debut for Celtic in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League against Lincoln Red Imps FC from Gibraltar . On September 10, 2016, he managed a hat trick in a 5-1 win in the 402nd Old Firm against Glasgow Rangers . This was last achieved by Stevie Chalmers in 1966. At the end of September Dembélé managed a brace in the Champions League group stage in the 3-3 draw against Manchester City at Celtic Park . On October 23, 2016, he scored the 1-0 winning goal in the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup against the Glasgow Rangers in Hampden Park . In February 2017, he scored two hat tricks in a row in consecutive competitive games against FC St. Johnstone and Inverness Caledonian Thistle . A goal against St. Johnstone was nominated for the 2017 FIFA Puskás Award. With Celtic, he won the national triple of the Scottish Championship , Cup and League Cup twice in 2017 and 2018 .

On August 31, 2018, Moussa Dembélé moved to the French Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyon , where he signed a five-year contract. Lyon paid a transfer fee of 22 million euros for him.
