NGC 2446 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation Lynx at the northern sky . It is an estimated 256 million light years from the Milky Way and about 145,000 light years in diameter.
The Type Ia supernova SN 2014ak was observed here.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on February 10, 1831 .
