NGC 2445 is an irregular galaxy of Hubble type in the constellation Lynx at the northern sky . It is an estimated 178 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter. Together with NGC 2444, the interacting galaxy pair Arp 143 .
Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class of elliptical galaxies with emanating material (Arp catalog) .
The object was discovered by Édouard Stephan on January 18, 1877 .
