NGC 2449 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sab in the constellation Gemini on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 216 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter . 
The galaxies NGC 2450 , IC 474 , IC 476 , IC 2205 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on January 18, 1874 by Édouard Stephan .
