NGC 2472 is a galaxy of Hubble type S? in the constellation lynx in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 260 million light years from the Milky Way and about 40,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 2458 , NGC 2463 , NGC 2468 , NGC 2469 .
The object was discovered by Bindon Blood Stoney on February 20, 1851 .
