NGC 2456 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E3 in the constellation Lynx at the northern sky . It is estimated to be 331 million light years from the Milky Way and about 105,000 light years across. It probably forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair with NGC 2457 .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on February 10, 1831 .
