NGC 3959 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Becher south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 250 million light years from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3967 and IC 747 .
The object was discovered on May 19, 1881 by Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel .
