NGC 3959 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Becher south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 250 million light years from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter.

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3967 and IC 747 .

The object was discovered on May 19, 1881 by Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel .
