NGC 3958 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa with an active galaxy core in the constellation Great Bear in the northern sky . It is an estimated 154 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 60,000 light years in diameter. Together with PGC 213905 it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair and is considered a member of the NGC 3963 group ( LGG 251 ).

The object was discovered by William Herschel on March 18, 1790 .
