NGC 3952 = IC 2972 is an irregular galaxy of the Hubble-type Sm in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 65 million light years from the Milky Way .

The object was discovered on March 11, 1787 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
