NGC 622 is a barred spiral galaxy with a high star formation rate of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Triangle in the northern sky . It is an estimated 233 million light years away from the Milky Way and is about 110,000 light years in diameter .
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 145 .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on October 9, 1785 .
