NGC 615 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 84 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light years in diameter. It is considered a member of the eight galaxies NGC 584 group ( LGG 27 ).
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 586 , NGC 596 , NGC 600 .
The object was discovered on January 10, 1785 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
