National Highway 53 ( NH 53 ) is a major highway in northeast India with a length of 320 kilometers. It begins in Badarpur in the state of Assam on the NH 44 and heads east first to Silchar , where the NH 54 is crossed. After a total of 100 km in the state of Assam, it runs a further 220 km through mostly mountainous terrain in the neighboring state of Manipur to its capital, Imphal .
