National Highway 31 ( NH 31 ) is a major trunk road in northeast India with a length of 1,125 kilometers, which is an important link to the northeastern states . It begins in Barhi in the state of Jharkhand on the NH 2 and after 44 km through this state runs a further 322 km through the neighboring state of Bihar . Then it leads 366 km through the north of the state of West Bengal . Finally, after 393 km, it ends in the state of Assam in its largest city, Guwahati , where the Brahmaputra is crossed, at NH 37 .
