The village is located in the Glantaler Bergland in the south of the Sankt Veit district, south of the Muraunberg and east of the village of Hörzendorf . It includes Niederdorf Castle and its outbuildings.

history

The place is first mentioned in 1087.

Located in the Niederdorf tax municipality, the place belonged to the Karlsberg tax district in the first half of the 19th century . When the local congregations were formed in the course of the reforms after the 1848/49 revolution, Niederdorf was transferred to the Hörzendorf community (which was initially called the Karlsberg community ), and in 1972 to the Sankt Veit an der Glan community.
