Wainz is a village in the municipality of St. Veit an der Glan in the Sankt Veit an der Glan district in Carinthia . The village has 5 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). It lies in the area of ​​the cadastral municipality of Galling .

location

The village is located in the extreme south of the municipality of Sankt Veit an der Glan and the Sankt Veit an der Glan district in the Glantaler Bergland , on the eastern slope of the Ulrichsberg , west of Pörtschach am Berg . It includes the Wainzer farm (house no. 1) with outbuildings (house no. 3 and 5), as well as another courtyard (house no. 2) just under 300 meters north-west of it. In contrast, the single-family houses, some of which were built in the vicinity of Wainz House No. 2 in the middle of the 20th century, are not counted as part of the village of Wainz, but of the Ulrichsberg village .

history

Lying in the tax municipality of Galling, the place belonged to the tax district of Karlsberg in the first half of the 19th century . When the local congregations were formed in the course of the reforms after the 1848/49 revolution, Wainz came to the Hörzendorf community (which was initially run under the name of the Karlsberg community ), and in 1972 to the Sankt Veit an der Glan community.
