Pörtschach am Berg is a place in Carinthia . The border between the cadastral communities Galling and Kading runs through the village , which is also the boundary between the political communities Sankt Veit an der Glan and Maria Saal and between the districts Sankt Veit an der Glan and Klagenfurt-Land . As a result, the place is divided into two localities : the village of Pörtschach am Berg in the municipality of Sankt Veit an der Glan in the district of Sankt Veit an der Glan has 32 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020), the village of Pörtschach am Berg in the municipality of Maria Saal im Klagenfurt-Land district has 51 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The place is located in Central Carinthia, in the Glantaler Bergland , on the eastern slope of the Ulrichsberg , southeast of Tanzenberg and north of Karnberg . Along the Pörtschacher Bach a cadastral parish boundary runs through the place: the northern part of the place - to the left of the stream - lies in the area of ​​the cadastral parish Galling, the southern part with the church of St. Lambrecht - to the right of the brook - in the area of ​​the cadastral community of Kading.

Lying in the tax municipality Galling, the northern part of the place belonged in the first half of the 19th century to the tax district Karlsberg . When the local communities were formed in the course of the reforms after the 1848/49 revolution, that part of the village came to the Hörzendorf community (which was initially called the Karlsberg community ) and thus to the Sankt Veit an der Glan district. In 1972 these houses came to the municipality of Sankt Veit an der Glan.
