location

The cadastral municipality is located in the extreme south of the municipality of Sankt Veit an der Glan and the district of Sankt Veit an der Glan. It is located in the Glantaler Bergland immediately east of the Ulrichsberg and extends from Preilitz in the north to the edge of the town of Prikalitz in the south and from the eastern slope of the Ulrichsberg in the west to Karnburger Straße (L 71a) in the east. The cadastral community extends over an altitude of 540  m above sea level. A. am Hörzendorfer Bach on the eastern border of the cadastral community up to 874  m above sea level. Localities

The localities Beintratten , Galling , Preilitz , Ulrichsberg , Unterwuhr and Wainz as well as the locality Pörtschach am Berg (community St. Veit an der Glan) , which make up the northern half and thus the Sankt Veit part of the same name, are entirely in the area of ​​the cadastral municipality of Tanzenberg , part of the municipality of Maria Saal . A building on the southern border of the cadastral community, which belonged to the village of Prikalitz , has been lost.

At the end of the 18th century, the Carinthian tax communities (later: cadastral communities) were formed and assigned to tax districts. The tax municipality of Galling became part of the tax district of Karlsberg .

In the course of the reforms after the revolution of 1848/49, the tax districts in Carinthia were dissolved and local communities were formed, each encompassing the area of ​​one or more tax communities. The tax or cadastral municipality of Galling became part of the municipality of Hörzendorf , which was initially called the municipality of Karlsberg . The size of the cadastral community was given in 1854 as 512 Austrian yokes and 349 fathoms (approx. 295 hectares, about the current area); at that time, 219 people lived in the area of ​​the cadastral community. In 1972 the cadastral municipality of Galling became part of the municipality of Sankt Veit an der Glan.

The cadastral municipality Galling belonged from 1850 to the political district of Sankt Veit an der Glan and to the judicial district of Sankt Veit an der Glan . From 1854 to 1868 it belonged to the mixed district of Sankt Veit an der Glan . Since the reform in 1868, it has again been part of the political district of Sankt Veit an der Glan and the judicial district of Sankt Veit an der Glan.

At the turn of the year 1979/1980 there were a total of 43 building areas with 25,567 m² and 82 gardens on 155,180 m² in the cadastral municipality of Galling , in 1989/1990 there were 37 building areas. In 1999/2000 the number of building areas had grown to 98 and in 2009/2010 there were 59 buildings on 100 building areas.

Land use

The cadastral community is characterized by agriculture. 179 hectares were used for agriculture at the turn of the year 1979/1980 and 90 hectares were forest areas. In 1999/2000 agriculture was carried out on 181 hectares and 101 hectares were designated as areas used for forestry. At the end of 2018, 156 hectares were used as agricultural land and forestry was carried out on 111 hectares. Galling's average soil climate number is 40.4 (as of 2010).
