Ostrau from the south

Ostrau is a village in the Leipzig district in Saxony . Politically, the place has belonged to Grimma since 2012 . It is located on the S 36 state road between Zschoppach and Zschockau .
Ostrava was first mentioned in a document in 1247 as "Ozstrowe". Further mentions were:

On April 1, 1937, Ostrau was incorporated into Zschoppach. On March 1, 1994, the then independent municipalities of Böhlen, Dürrweitzschen, Leipnitz, Ragewitz and Zschoppach merged to form the municipality of Thümmlitzwalde . This in turn was incorporated into Grimma on January 1, 2011, with which Ostrau ultimately became a part of the municipality of Grimma.
