Awans is a Belgian municipality in the Wallonia region . It is located in the province of Liege in the Arrondissement of Liege .

The community has 9,318 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) and an area of ​​27.16 km².

Awans is located in the Liège agglomeration a good eight kilometers northwest of the city center. The Dutch city ​​of Maastricht is 25 km north-northeast, Namur 46 km southwest and Brussels 75 km northwest.
