Owen [ ˈaʊ̯ən ] is a landscape protection area in the Esslingen district in Baden-Württemberg .
Location and description
The approximately 567 hectare landscape protection area consists of two sub-areas. It encompasses the western part of the Owen marker between the Dettingen unter Teck and Beuren markings, the border of the Erkenbrechtsweiler mountain peninsula and the Unterlenningen-Brucken markings as well as the entire part of the Teckberg that belongs to the Owen markings and was created by ordinance of the Esslingen District Office on June 5 1974. By ordinance of 9 November 1999, the area was reduced by 105 hectares in connection with the designation of the Teck nature reserve . At the same time, the ordinances of the former Nürtingen District Office for the protection of parts of the landscape and parts of the landscape in the Nürtingen district of October 22, 1942 and for the protection of the Tiefenbachtal part of the landscape of October 16, 1940, expired insofar as they affected the scope of the new protected area ordinance. It belongs to the natural area 101 - Middle Alb foreland within the natural spatial main unit 10 - Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land .
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the preservation of the valuable, richly structured orchards and their valuable additional structures, which are of paramount importance for the natural balance of the foothills of the Alb. In particular, the preservation of valuable additional structures, such as slope edges, grass and gravel paths, dry stone walls , lean and dry crags , fallow land and small unused areas, hedges, field trees , near-natural forests and forest edges as well as damp source areas represent an important protection purpose. In addition, an important protection purpose the preservation of the landscape as a local recreation area on the edge of the metropolitan area of the central Neckar area.
